Offensive Fire Power
Team USA had an impressive performance, as every player contributed to the teams scoring output. Six players scored in double digits for Team USA, which include Joel Embiid, Devin Booker, Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, and, Anthony Edwards. Devin Booker led the way for team USA with 18 points on 66.7% from the field and 71% from three. Additionally team USA had key bench contributions from Anthony Edwards, Kevin Durant, and Anthony Davis.
Lebron James' Impact
Despite, being almost 40 years old Lebron James is still leading the way for Team USA. Lebron posted 12 points and 9 assists, almost posting a double double. His playmaking ability and basketball IQ was on display, in this game!
Joel Embiid's dominant game
Joel Embiid has faced a lot of criticism for his bad performances for Team USA. Collin Cowherd claimed that Joel Embiid is overhyped and overrated, after his poor performance against Serbia. However, Joel Embiid isn't overhyped or overrated, he is simply over hated. Many people in the NBA world have a personal vendetta against Joel Embiid. They will harshly criticize him, even if he has one bad performance in the Olympics. It is becoming popular to hate on Joel Embiid. However, Joel Embiid just had back to back dominant performances against Puerto Rico and Brazil. Embiid scored 15 points against Puerto Rico, and 14 points against Brazil in an important knockout stage game. In the beginning of the game Joel Embiid provided a spark for Team USA, hitting three pointers, and interior shots. Embiid finished the game scoring 14 points on 83% from the field and 100% from three. He also grabbed 7 rebounds, showing that his interior presence was valuable. It seems that the haters are silent after Joel Embiid's impressive performance.
Kevin Durant makes history!
Kevin Durant made history in todays game against Brazil, as he is now the leading scorer USA basketball history including men and woman's. In the third quarter against Brazil, Durant scored his 6th point, passing Lisa Leslie to become USA's all time leading scorer. If team USA wins gold, Durant can also become the first USA basketball player (men's) to have four Olympic gold medals. Durant is making himself a good case to become the greatest USA basketball player of all time.
Brazil's Effort
Former NBA player Bruno Caboclo had an impressive performance against Team USA, scoring 30 points. However, only one other play scored in single digits for Brazil. Brazil needed more players to contribute and score for them in order to have a chance against USA. That's why they lost by 37 points!
Looking Ahead
Team USA will play Serbia in the next game, who just beat a talented Australia team in the knockout stage. Serbia is led by NBA superstar Nikola Jokic, who won 3 MVP's. Barring, no upsets team USA should be able to secure the gold medal, as they have the most talented team in the Olympics.
