Steph Curry does it again!
Well America has a new hero and his name is Stephen Curry. Against France Steph Curry hit 8 three pointers in the Gold Medal Game and scored 24 points. Team USA held a pretty large lead throughout the game, as they had a 15 point lead. However, that lead was quickly cut down to three points, with under three minutes to go in the 4th quarter. Team USA looked to be in trouble, but then Steph Curry happened. Steph Curry hit four three pointers in a row, and iced the game. No one could stop Stephen Curry, as he even hit a shot well beyond the three point line with two defenders contesting him. Team USA couldn't have won without the Steph Curry Flurry.
Lebron James' consistency
Lebron James played consistently throughout the entire Olympics, as he scored, rebounded, and facilitated every single game. In the Gold Medal game against France Lebron finished with 14 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds. He was an unstoppable force, when driving to the rim, and his passing was nothing short of amazing. His behind the back pass to Devin Booker in the first quarter represents his amazing passing ability and basketball IQ. Even, at the age of 39 Lebron James still won MVP of the Paris 2024 Olympics, which is a testament to his greatness and longevity.
Kevin Durant Wins His Fourth Gold Medal
Kevin Durant wins another Gold Medal, marking his fourth gold medal with team USA. He is now the first 4 time Gold Medalist in Men's Olympics Basketball history. It is safe to say that Kevin Durant is now the greatest Olympic Basketball player of all time. In this game against France, Kevin Durant displayed his scoring prowess, putting up 15 points. He made a couple three pointers in the beginning of the game, and also played good defense throughout the game.
France's Effort
France were never out of the game vs Team USA! Even when they were down by 15 points they gave Team USA their best shot, cutting the leading to three points with under three minutes to go in the game. Victor Wembanyama rose to the occasion in such a high stakes game, as he scored 26 points on 57% from the field. Additionally, Gershan Yabusele scored 20 points and even dunked on Lebron James. France also had impressive performances from their bench players such as Nando De Colo, NBA player Bilal Coulibaly, NBA player Evan Fournier, and Mathias Lessort. However, they couldn't keep up with the talent Team USA had in Lebron James, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant.
France's Future
France has a very bright future in basketball, as they will have exciting young players for the 2028 Olympics. The number 1 pick Zaccharie Risacher and number 2 pick Alex Sarr could play for France in 2028. These players could pontentially become all star talent in the future. Nolan Traore a 6'4 guard, who is projected to be one of the top prospects in next years NBA draft. Additionally, Victor Wembanyama could possibly be the best player in the NBA by 2028. France could be building an even better basketball team for the 2028 Olympics.
USA's Future
Legends such as Kevin Durant, Lebron James, and Steph Curry will most likely not play for Team USA in the 2028 Olympics. It was a great pleasure to see these three greats play for Team USA during the Olympics. However, it is a new era and Team USA will have new young players. In next years NBA draft Cooper Flagg will be the number 1 pick, and is predicted to be one of the best players in the NBA. Additionally, team USA could have guards such as Tyrese Maxey, Ja Morant, Jalen Brunson, Devin Booker, Donovan Mitchell, and Tyrese Haliburton. Forward spots could include Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Anthony Edwards, Mikal Bridges, Paolo Banchero, and Jalen Williams. Big men could include Bam Adebayo, Chet Holmgren, Zion Williamson, and Evan Mobley. Overall, Team USA will still be one of the best basketball teams, but other teams around the world are catching up to them.
